Nebraska City News Press, 30 November, 2006 Glenn Theodore Wachter, 101, of Nebraska City, died Nov. 29, 2006 at Morton House Assisted Living. He was born April 12, 1905 in Palmyra to Herman and Lydia (Moss) Wachter. He married Ruby Hall June 11, 1934 in Seward. She died May 26, 1996. Glenn formerly lived in Palmyra. He moved to the Nebraska City area in 1940 where he farmed for several years before retiring and moving into Nebraska City in 1969. He worked for Gibbs Construction, Weinman Auto and Porter Orchard. He received the 1982 Good Neighbor Award from the Nebraska City Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Church of Christ, Eagles Aerie No. 968, Elks Lodge No. 1049 and was a 50-year member of Western Star Lodge No. 2, A.F.&A.M., all in Nebraska City. He was a former member of the Farm Bureau Board. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, photography and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by daughters Sharron Kohtz and her husband Dennis of Waco, Neb., Joan Scott and husband Junior of New Hampton, Mo.; 11 grandchildren: Rick Kennell and wife Karen, Randy Kennell and wife Julie, Roger Kennell and wife Sandra, Ryan Kennell and wife Deena, Theresia (Kover) Welch and husband Jeff, Bruce Wachter, Mark Wachter and wife Shelly, David Wachter, Bruce Kohtz and wife Patty, Brian Kohtz, Julie (Kohtz) Cast and husband James; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Roy Wachter of Palmyra; special cousin Lila Hite of Ashland; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by wife Ruby, son Merle, brother Charles Wachter and sisters Inez Sheesley and Nina Wolken. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 2, 11 a.m. at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with words of comfort from Glenn Redmond of the Church of Christ, Nebraska City. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family will greet friends and relatives at the funeral home one hour prior to services Saturday. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons James Cast, Bruce Kohtz, Brian Kohtz, Bruce Wachter, Mark Wachter and David Wachter. Active pallbearers are Dennis Kohtz and grandsons Rick Kennell, Randy Kennell, Roger Kennell, Ryan Kennell and Jeff Welch. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City.
