    McEntee Dies; War Historian
    New York (S&S) - Col. Girard Lindsley McEntee (ret.), 76, of Ridgewood, N.J., died at the Post Hospital, West Point, New York, the New York Times reported.
    He had slipped on the ice near his home two days before and suffered a severe hip fracture.
    McEntee was author of "Military History of the World War," a technical account of the World War I operations on all fronts, published in 1937. It has been widely quoted by military analysts and writers on military topics.
    His "Military History" was also widely used as a textbook.
    His first wife, Mrs. Charlotte Ducat McEntee, died in 1941. He leaves his second wife, Mrs. Helen Schroeder McEntee; two sons, Navy Cmdr Girard L. McEntee III, and Col. Ducat McEntee, and two brothers, Jansen A. and James C. McEntee.
    McEntee served in the Army for 32 years, completing three tours of duty in the Phillipines. In 1916 he went with the American Forces to Vera Cruz, Mexico, and in World War I he served overseas as a staff officer of the 7th Div.
    After the war he wrote "Italy's Part in Winning the World War."
