Oswego County Probate Record, Inventory 1849: A True & Perfect Inventory of all the goods, chattels & credits which were of Gilbert Gay, late of Amboy, deceased. Made by the Administratrix of the said deceased with the aid & in the presence of Eben J. Dennis & Ephraim Cleveland both of Constantia, they having been duly appointed & sworn as appraisers ... --- One canal boat by the name of G. Gay of Verona, being in the Oneida Lake Canal in Verona, Oneida County …. $50.00 --- An interest in land lying in the Town of Amboy in the County of Oswego, being 80 acres of Lot No. 134… $150.00 --- The following articles are exempted from appraisal & remain in the possession of Mary D. Gay, the widow of the deceased according to statute: One common table, six chairs, one bed & bedding & bedstads, 1 bureau, 2 trunks, one parlor cook stove & furniture to same, 2 Bibles & ??? other books, necessary wearing apparel & clothing the widows? In addition to the above enumerated articles exempt from appraisal the appraisers, in the exercise of their discretion pursuant to the statute, set apart the following personal property for the use of the widow of said intestate, the same not exceeding in value [$150.00] viz: The Sleng?
