The Historic Genealogy of the Lowells of America says that, "probably" this Gideon "Lowle served in Col. Williard's Regt. in the French and Indian War. Was employed 9 days constructing a bateau. (His. Amesbury, Mass., p. 228)."S1 In reviewing the original source S2, the date is 1759. This is somewhat late for this Gideon Lowell. It may be more likely to be Gideon Lowell's son, Gideon, who was baptized (presume born) in 1735, per Amesbury Vital Records.
