Gideon is the son of Jesse Barber and Mary Braman. Jesse was born 27 April, 1746 in Coxsackie, Greene County, NY. Mary was born 9 Sept. 1763. This information comes from Sabina Barber, who was 2nd great granddaughter to Jesse. The genealogy titled "Jesse Barber of Coxsackie NY and some of his descendants" by Rev. Lewis H. Stoughton, Scotia NY is on file at the state library in Albany. Jesse died about 1808 . Mary died in 1836. At the beginning of the genealogy the Reverend writes that although the genealogy is far from complete it contains data that soon will be impossible to obtain elsewhere. He includes Bible citations from various descendants and information obtained by talking to elderly members of the family. As nearly as I can tell it was written in Nov. of 1947.
