"6. Gershom2 Culver (Edward2), baptized at Roxbury, Mass., 3 Dec. 1648, died at Southampton, Long Island, N.Y., in 1716; married Mary _____. He was of Southampton before 1682; surveyor of fences, 1691; conveyed to son Gershom, Jr., 1713. He was a carpenter by trade. [See Southampton Town Records, 2:97, 125, 275; 5:244; 6:80]. In the 1698 Census of Southampton, Gershom and Mary Culver were listed with Jeremiah, David, Jonathan and Nahum [?Gershom], and Mary Culver, Jr.
Gershom's will, dated 25 Nov. 1715, proved 30 Mar. 1716, names his wife Mary; eldest son Jeremiah; sons Moses, David, Jonathan and Gershom; daughter Mary; son Moses to take care of grandson Jesse (under 21) [Abstracts of Wills, New York, 2:177]."
