Mrs. Verdoorn, 76, Dies After Lingering Illness

Mrs. Gertie Verdoorn, 76, died Sunday, Sept. 1, at her home south of Rock Valley, following a lingering illness.

She was a daughter of Maas Dykgraaf and Drietje Haasen and was born Aug. 2, 1831 at Erelms, Holland. On Jan. 22, 1930 at Rock Valley she married Joe Verdoorn. To this union one son was born.

The past 27 years she had lived near Rock Valley. Those who preceded her death were her parents and three sisters, Effie, Hattie and Mrs. George De Zeeuw.

Survivors are her husband and two sons. William of Dallas, Texas and Jacob of Alexandria, Va. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed church of Rock Valley.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 5. 1957 at 2:00 p. m. from the First Christian Reformed church of Rock Valley. The Reverend Mr. C. Huissen officiated. Burial was in the Valley View cemetery.
