Georgia Mildred Fratoddi McGowan MCGOWAN, GEORGIA MILDRED FRATODDI, of Eufaula, AL passed away. Funeral Mass Services for Mrs. Georgia Mildred Fratoddi McGowan, age 94, of Eufaula will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Birmingham. Visitation in Birmingham will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Father Jose Manjaly and Father Ray Dunmyer will concelebrate the mass of Christian funeral and burial will follow at 12 noon in Forest Hill Cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Mrs. McGowan passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at her residence. Born September 10, 1912 in Birmingham, Mrs. McGowan was the daughter of the late Bernardo and Julia Montana Fratoddi. She spent her youth and married years in West End, Birmingham and was preceded in death by her husband of 40-plus years, John Raymond McGowan, Sr., two sons, John Raymond McGowan, Jr., and James William McGowan and a daughter, Mary Frances Creel, a brother, Spranto Fratoddi and two sisters, Celeise and Florida Fratoddi. Mrs. McGowan spent her life dedicated to her family and her church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Birmingham, where her family was among the founding members. She loved bingo and card games and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Robert Bernard McGowan, Eufaula and Patrick Joseph McGowan, Big Canoe, GA; and a sister, Flavia Louise Whitt McClenny, FL; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Tom, Robert, John, Mike, Paul, and Scott McGowan. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 515 W. Broad St., Eufaula, AL 36027 or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1460 Pearson Ave. SW, Birmingham, AL. Published in The Birmingham News on 8/17/2007
