From the Muskegon Chronicle, Thursday, January 16, 1941 George Van Aken, 92 years old died Wednesday at his home on Bolt Highway after a short illness. Little was known about Mr. Van Aken who gave his birthplace as Branch County and said he had been living in Muskegon County for about two months before he came to the home January 10, 1941. Surviving are a son, Melvin of Battle Creek; a brother Barney of Elkhart IN; a nephew and niece, Homer and May Van Aken of Battle Creek and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Van Aken of Muskegon.

At that time Aunt Lestie gave me a tin cup which she said had belonged to a son who ran away from home. This has interested me enough to want to learn more about the Van Aken family members who went to Oceana Co MI. I have a very good picture of George A (72 years) and Aunt Lestie (69 years).
