  2. Obituary.

    Published in the Ingham County Democrat on Thurs Apr 3, 1902 p.4, col.3 - George Swan was born in Murray, Orleans Co, NY on Sep 5, 1816 being one of 12 children. Nov 13, 1848 he was married to Pattie Goodnoe, who passed to higher life in Mar 1885 (Cemetery has Apr 1885) On Jul 4, 1887, he was again married to Betsy Swan. She was killed by lightning Jul 2, 1890. The following year he came to Michigan & found a home with his brother, James Swan of Ingham, until Mar 17, 1901. He then went to live with another brother, Philo Swan, where he died Sun morning Mar 30, 1902 of paralysis. Funeral services conducted by Rev.Benson of Dansville, were held at the house Tues at 2pm & the remains were taken to York State for interment beside those of his wives. Deceased leaves one sister, three brothers & many friends to mourn their loss. Uncle George, as he was called, always looked on the brighter side of life & was a general favorite with both old & young. He will be greatly missed by them all.
