In 1880 he was a farm laboror; 1900 & 1910 a farmer; In 1900 was a widower. 1920 he was a widower living with his daughter Sadie. 1920 she and George are living separately and both are 'widows'.

Obituary LIFELONG RESIDENT OF MAHONING DIES

 George Neff, 77, a lifelong resident of Mahoning County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ella Clay, 642 Marshall, at 3 a.m. Monday following a long illness of a complication of diseases.

Mr. Neff was born in Austintown Sept. 5, 1842, son of the late Jonas and Sallie Rowe Neff. Fifty-six years ago he was married to Miss Angeline Corll. She preceded him in death 36 years ago. For many years Mr. Neff was a well known farmer of this vicinity but he had been retired from active work for some time. He had made his home with his daughter in Youngstown for four years. He belonged to the Smiths Corners Evangelical church. Surviving are three daughters and seven sons, Mrs. Ella Clay, with whom he made his home; Mrs. Sadie Laughlin, city: Mrs. Lester Baird, Canfield: William Henry, Martin, Irwin, George and Orris, city: Ivan and Arthur, West Austintown. He also leaves one brother, Eli, Austintown: two sisters, Mrs. Levi Raver and Mrs. Cornelius Corll, Cornersburg; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the residence at 1:30 p.m. at Smiths Corners Evangelical church, Rev. Cope of Canfield officiating: internment in Smiths Corners cemetery.
