"456 George5 Merrill (Jonathan44, Daniel3, John2) was born in 1738 in West Hartford, Conn., and lived in Canton, Conn. He is said to have died in New York while confined on a prison ship in the Revolution. He married, 25 Apr.1765, Sarah Case."
There was another George Merrill, son of Eliakim, who was baptized at New Hartford in 1746. It does not appear certain which George married Sarah Case and which one died on a prison ship in New York. Examination of probate records in Litchfield County might shed some light on the question.
