A graveside service will be held for George Loughner, on Wednesday, January 6 2016 at 11am at Newark Memorial Gardens.
George Loughner Jr. was born March 15, 1923 in Brenizer, Pennsylvania, to George Sr. and Mabel (Smail) Loughner. He moved his family to Newark, OH in 1949 and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas, in 1985 after 36 ½ years.
He was a Master Carpenter, and for a season, taught at the Licking Co. Joint Vocational School.
Wood was his element. When he was in his workshop, he would sing and whistle the whole time, enjoying every minute.
Beside designing and building two family homes, one of his proudest achievements was to work with the Historical Society, and personally recreate a Gazebo, for the Borough of Blairsville, Pennsylvania, “exactly” as it was in the early 1940s.
He was a member of the Newark Masonic Lodge #554. His wife of 54 years, Katy (Catherine Rosetti) crossed in May of 2000. His crossing is also preceded by his parents; 3 brothers, Donald, William, and Charles; and one sister Catherine Patterson.
He is survived by his children, Faith (Tomb) and Ron Baird, of Blairsville, PA, George III and Marie Loughner, and Diana McClellan, of Pinson, AL; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
