    Visitation for George Likkel of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 tonight and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be held at 4:15 p.m. Saturday in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Rev. Ken Ritsema officiating and the Rev. Bill Vandenbos participating. Mr. Likkel died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. He was 86. Born Feb. 4, 1913, to Gerrit and Dena (Vedders) Likkel in New Holland, S.D., he grew up there. On Feb. 22, 1933, he married Bertha DeJong in New Holland. In 1936, they moved west and in 1942 settled in Lynden. Mr. Likkel owned and operated a dairy farm in Lynden until 1954. He then owned and operated C&L Farm Store until 1972. Mr. Likkel served many years as an elder and deacon at Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden. He enjoyed singing and music. His five brothers and six sisters preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, of the family home daughters Doris Mae Bajema and Mary Lou Plagerman, both of Lynden, and Vonnie Roosendaal of Seattle son Allen Likkel of Seattle 17 grandchildren 41 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
