At Indianola, IA Cemetery we found in a row the following gravestones 7 rows back from the entrance flag pole with inscriptions: Father Geo. W. Gier 1849-1925; Mother Emma, wife of G.W. Gier Jan. 9, 1852-Feb. 1, 1920; Arthur (I suspect also called Archie) Gier 1974-1925; Nellie Gier 1894-1986. Nearly next to these was a stone inscribed Laura F. Braught 1865-1936. The cemetery record shows that George paid for Gier cemetery lots Oct. 18, 1924. We should be able to fnd death records and obituaries on these people at Indianola, IA. Iowa Census 1895 roll 239 Warren Co. Squaw Twp. shows house 170 family 170 as: George W. Gier, 44 b. OH, Emma, 43, b. PA, Authur, 20 b. Warren Co and Nellie under 5 b. Warren Co. Also living in this residence were Laura Braucht, 29, b. Warren Co.,single, farmer; and David Ash, 15 single, b. Warren Co. They lived next door to George and Sarah E. Braucht and a few doors from Adam and Mary E. Braucht; and Theodore and Rebecca A. Braucht. Although this couple were apparently about the same age, I suspect that their birth dates shown here are close, but not accurate.
