According to the Rhoton to Abshier letter of March, 2003, George Gaddie III was a farmer and carpenter.
There is also mention of George Gaddie in "Kentucky: A History of the State", Battle, Perrin & Knifen, 3rd Ed. 1885, Larue County. Tipton Lewis and his wife Frances, of Franklin County, Tenn., sold George Gaddie (I assume it was George III) 90 1/2 acres on Pitman Creek for $226.25. It appears that George Gaddy III purchased an additional 21 acres on Pitman Creek from Polly Bottom, who was a widow living on the property.
Another possible date of death was 7 July of the same year (1863). In his will he specified that his 2000 acres of land and 50 slaves be divided among his Wife Mary and his children. He also required that the slaves never be sold outside of the family and that each member of the family was responsible for caring for the older slaves. According to the Rhoton information, George III is buried in Gaddie Cemetery #5, in Taylor county, Kentucky, along with his father George II.
