Fisherman in Grand Bank.

First Master of Fidelity Lodge

Brother George Robert Forsey was the first Master of Fidelity lodge # 1659 E.C. A.F. & A.M. at it's formation. He was born in Grand Bank in 1842. After completing his education, he entered into Commercial business in the town. He was a man of Sterling Character with the highest pricipals, very civic minded and at all times displayed a vital interest in all phases of life in the community. He was initiated into Masonry by becoming a member of St. John's Lodge # 579. Following his venture into Commercial life, he was employed by the Department of Justice and was appointed to the Magistracy and served in that capacity in his initial term at Burin for a number of years. He did not take up residence at Burin and subsequently he was transferred back to Grand Bank where he once again immersed himself in all phases of community life. His association with the Government of that day stood at a high level, borne out by the fact that he was responsible for operating the Postal Telegraph Service in the town, in addition to being appointed Collector of Customs. In short it would appear that he was the man of the day insofar as the town of Grand Bank was concerned. He died in 1917.
