"… George, son of Edmund and Mary (Griswold) Dorr, of Lyme, born 4 Aug., 1720, in Hartford, Ct.; died 1 Jan'y, 1787, in Lyme. … joined the Lyme church … in October, 1741. … settled in Lyme, where he practiced law, and for more than twenty years before the Revolution was King's Attorney for that district; while arguing a case in court he became paralyzed, but lived about twenty years afterwards, an invalid. … George was a nephew of Gov. Griswold, and his sister was the mother of Pres. Griffin of Williams, whose wife was a descendant of Matthew¹ Marvin."
