He was prominent in the Chickasaw nation during the Revolutionary War. He was said to serve with the colonials under Arthur St. Clair and Anthony Wayne during the Revolution. He and his brothers, and their descendants, served the Chickasaw Nation as leaders for much of a century. His nephews Winston and Holmes Colbert helped develop the constitution and government organization of the Chickasaw in Oklahoma.

Conflicting evidence states that George was born 1764. George was elected in Chickasaw Nation, 1800. He was listed as a resident in the census report in Chickasaw Roll, Chickasaw Nation, MS, 1818. On the death of his brother, Levi Colbert, leadership of the Chickasaw passed into the hands of George Colbert. He was the recognized chief at the time of removal until his death in 1839. He was buried with honors at Fort Towson, for he was a vetran of the American Revolution, having served under General Washington and having been commissioned a major in the army and awarded a sword. He also served under General Jackson by whom he had been commissioned a colonel in the Siminole Wars. He died at the age of 95.

George Colbert established Colbert's ferry near Cherokee, Alabama. Colbert accumulated land and became an powerful planter. He owned est. 150 slaves. His economic and political power, enabled he and his brothers to be among the primary negotiators of treaties between the Chickasaw people and the United States government. The Chickasaw ceded much of their land to European-American settlers in an attempt to preserve peace with the United States, but the Colberts received several valuable tracts.
In the late 1830s, Colbert and many of his fellow Chickasaw were moved to Oklahoma under the Indian Removal Act. He married three times, and fathered six sons and two daughters. Colbert family tradition states that he did not want one of his daughters to have to move to Oklahoma with Indian Removal. He married her to a white man named Hezekiah Tharp so she could stay in present-day Alabama.[citation needed] Although he had resisted removal, by 1839 Colbert moved with his family and 150 slaves to Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, where he established a sizable farm

"Chugitague" is a title, not the name of Saleechie's father. Would you please correct this? Also, there is some evidence that Saleechie's sister who also married George was Tuski-a-hoo-to. Would you replace the word "sister" with Tuski-a-hoo-to where she is mentioned? Thanks!

George Colbert did not marry Tuski-a-hoo-to in 1836. You contradict your data as listing Tuski-a-hoo-to marrying George in 1836, yet dying in 1807. In 1836, George Colbert was still married to Salitsi Doublehead. Salitsi died in 1847, Chickasaw Nation West, IT & was the last wife of George Colbert.
Note: George Colbert was my 4th Great Grandfather, his son William to Salitsi was my 3rd great grandfather.
