Cullom clerk and master of the Chancery Court at Livingston at my office in said town, on Saturday the 19 dy of July 1845, to be read as evidence in the suit pending before said court in which Cornelius Maxwell et al are complainants and Walter Alley et al, are defendants.

    George w. Christian being first sworn sayth—Question 1st by defts. Solicitor. Are you acquainted with James Peak and with his general character, if so, could you give him full credit upon oath in a court of Justice? Answer—I am acquainted with James Peek and tolerably well acquainted with his general character. I could not give him full credit upon his oath in a court of Justice."

    Among possible sources of George's knowledge, his sister Harrriet's niece by marriage (Tennessee Eldridge) married James Peek's son James Jr..
