George C. Boldt, Jr.

As the son of George Carl Boldt, Sr., George Jr. was part heir to his father's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel fortune.

While a freshman at Cornell, George Jr. was operated on for appendicitis by Dr. Roswell Park of Buffalo on November 21, 1901.1
As a senior in 1904, George, the manager of the Cornell Musical Clubs, organized a concert tour of the East Coast. 2
In 1906, George married Estelle Savin of California in a secret wedding in Yuma, Arizona. The couple had only known each other for six weeks. George's friend Howard Throckmorton, who helped George and Estelle to elope, married Estelle's sister Angela, also in 1906. Sadly, Angela died before the couple could celebrate their first wedding anniversary. 3
On October 8, 1907, George's wife Estelle was the matron of honor at his sister Louise's wedding to Alfred Graham Miles. George served as an usher.
In April 1909, George Jr. purchased a four-story home at 81 Park Ave. 4
In December 1913, Mr. and Mrs. George Boldt Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Miles gave a masquerade party. 5
George's father died on December 5, 1916. George Jr. was about 35, and it was said that he would take over his father's business interests. 6
On February 2, 1918, George Jr. announced the takeover of the operation of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, leased from the Astor family, by a company formed by T. Coleman du Pont. The Boldt estate was to retain some interest in the company.7
George Jr. sold the business in 1922. 8
In 1929, George was living in Santa Barbara, and Estelle had remarried to Mead Lewis and was living in New York City. 1
