Grandpa always said that his Batchelor ancestors were of Scotch-Irish descent. George was well-known in Kentucky for raising coon dogs, black and tan hound dogs used for hunting raccoons for their skins. Mom remembers hearing Cincinnati radio personality, Boss Johnson, talking on the radio about hunting with his friend, George Batchelor. Grandpa (Clayton) said, when driving in the 1980's on I-275 around the Greater Cincinnati Airport in Kentucky, "I remember tramping these hills with Dad." Most of his kids usually called George, "Pop."
- ↑ His funeral was held at his daughter, Kate Gilb's home by her "holy roller preacher" (Mom's phrase) from the North Bend Holiness Mission. Mom was 9 ½ when he died. She said the funeral was awful because the preacher had one of those weepy, sing-songy preaching styles.
- ↑ George was living on the farm with his kids and his mother-in-law, his wife, Lizzie, having died earlier in the year.
- ↑ George had remarried and was now living with his new wife, Laurel, some of his children from his first marriage, her children from her first marriage, and their own young daughter.
- ↑ George was buried with his first wife, Lizzie.
