Sixth son of Abraham Barricklow and Sophia Cameron, got his elementary education in the coal mining area of PA.

George's uncle, Emanuel Barricklow, moved his family to Kansas in 1882 and he encouraged his brothers to come from PA also. So, in 1903, George, his parents, brothers, Alex and Charles, sisters, Ethel, Louisa and Blanche, as well as numerous other relatives, migrated west. They all settled in Miami County. Much of their land remained under the Barricklow ownership for many years.
When Charles was inducted into the army during WWI, George became principal operator of the parental farm near McNelly School. Before his marriage he went to Minnesota to examine land open to homesteading but returned home in a short while.
Sept. 8, 1918, he married Marie Wayman of Drexel Mo. They had five children.

In 1925 he bought property in Sugar Creek Twp., Miami Co., near Drexel, Mo. He became a member of McCabe Methodist Church at Jingo and serveon on the school board and elction board. He continued to farm until his health began to fail. In 1964, he and Marie moved to Paola, Kansas.

George was a member of a sturdy, self-reliant race, living a life of service and sacrifice to his family and friends with absolute honesty and resourcefulness, traits of his ancestors.
Although almost non-existent today, the name "Barricklow" was prominent in Miami County for many years. Today, George's nearest relatives still living in the are besides the daughter, Mildred, are :Mrs. Merritt Elliott and Mrs. Frank Rhodes, daughters of his sister, Ethel Barricklow Young. His grandchildren and great grandchildren live in Colorado, Oklahoma, and other points in Kansas.
