George Abbot, of Andover, Mass., born in Yorkshire, England, 1615, died at Andover, December 24, 1681. He emigrated to New England about 1640, and settled in Andover of which he was an original proprietor. He married in 1647, Hannah, daughter of William and Annie Chandler, and had issue John, George, William, Benjamin, Timothy, Thomas, Nathaniel.

While it used to be believed that he was from Yorkshire, it has since been established that he was from Hertfordshire. Note that his birth date in The Ancestral File was apparently recorded as 14 Jun 1615 - there appears to be no evidence for this date.
