Galen "Burgy" Townsend, 53, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at his home. A fellowship gathering will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Teamster's Local 238 Union Hall, 5000 J St. SW, Cedar Rapids. Surviving to honor his memory are his siblings, Karen (Jerry) Kiburz of Monticello, Gary (Coleen) Townsend of Mechanicsville, Joe Townsend of Cedar Rapids, and Laura (Doug) Edler of Gladbrook; and friend, Garry Wagner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary (Finn) Townsend; and his sister, Linda. Galen was born Dec., 11, 1957, in Monticello. He attended school in Monticello. Galen worked for Langer Manufacturing. He was a fan of Jeff Gordon, the Bears, the Hawkeyes and especially, rock & roll.
