Death: 24 APR 1809 in Reading,Perry Co., Oh

Note:
Fredrick was born almost 9 months after the death of his
father. One family tradition thought he was born at sea. One of two
things could have happened; the wife of Frederick came over after
Frederick and the child was born in route, or the child was actually
born in PA. At either rate, Frederick never saw his son.
Young Frederick was reared in the Keystone State. He married
and four of the six children were born there. A 1800 census for
CocalicoTwp. (roll 39) lists a "Frederick Schreider" household
consisting of one maleunder age 10 (Jacob); one male between 26 and
45 years (perhaps a mistake inFrederick's age), one female between 16
and 26 years(Christina), and one female over 45 years of age (perhaps
Frederick's mother).
Frederick paid taxes inCocalico Twp. between the years of 1800
and 1805. He was listed as an "inmate"( which is a person who is
a"renter") No occupation was indicated.
He came to Perry Co., Ohio in 1809, from Lancaster County, Pa.
between Aug 16 1804 andthe end of 1805 (based on the date of birth of
John fourth child of Frederickand Christina.
He entered land from the Government near Somerset, Perry Co.,
Ohio. According to records, Frederick held land with "John Dopler"
(should be"Dupler").
Frederick helped to establish the New Reading, Ohio, Lutheran
Church in 1805. Church meeting started typically in members homes.
Later, After the death of Frederick) a two story log structure was
build. Next the congregation built a brick structure. Today the
enterance is the only thing that remainsfrom the building. Frederick
was the first person buried in the New Reading cemetery near the
Church.
New Reading was established as Obermeyersettler - translated
as Overmeyertown in 1804. His son, Peter was only 9 months old when
Frederick died.
The early death of Frederick caused the family to have
difficulties. The Chillicothe Land Office put the land up for sale
due to lack of payment. It was purchased by Frederick Dupler. He
died in 1814 and his brother Phillip, acting executor, sold the land
to Mathias Sahn.
[BO:Notes from Paul Shrider:BO]:
[IT:In "Pioneer Ohio Newspapers 1802-1818" by Karen Mauer Green and
published by The Frontier Press in 1988 there is mention that the
Scioto Gazette Vol XI, Wednesday, 9 January 1811, No 525 listed a
Frederick Shreider ashaving land for sale according to Jesse Spencer,
Register of the Land Officeat Chillicothe.
According to John J. Shrider, Frederick entered 160 acres of land in
Hopewell Twp, Perry Co., Ohio. He cited the platt book for Congress
Lands that is at the Ross Co. Historical Society, Chilicothe, Ohio.
On Feb 11, 1811, a Frederick Dupler (Doplar) owned the property which
was the south-east quarter section of Range 16, township 16, section
5.
He settled near New Reading, which was platted in 1805. New Reading
was originally called Obermeyersettle. - Perry County Herlines, Vol
4, No.2, page 16.
The land that Frederick settled on was with a John Dupler. John
Married Margaret Hertzog who may have been the sister of Christina.
After Margaret's death, he married Frederick's daughter Catherine.

Frederick Shrider and John Dupler married sisters. They moved from Lancaster County, PA, in 1805. Together they contracted for a quarter section of government land. John ended up buying another parcel. Frederick lived on the original parcel until he died in 1809. There were other Dupler brothers that made the journey to what is now Perry County, OH (it was originally in Lancaster County, OH). Frederick and John were both mentioned in the will of Nicholas Hertzog recorded in Lancaster County, PA. Christina (wife of Frederick) and Margaret (John's wife) were his daughters.
