Fred Rose and his family were living In Durango City, La Plata County, Colorado in January 1920, the time of the 1920 Census. His wife Emily was born in Illinois, and her father was Norwegian and her mother, Swedish. Fred was employed as a tool sharpener for a nearby mine.

Fred Rose was a patient in the Norwalk State Hospital for the Insane in 1930. His family was living at Long Beach City nearby.
