The following notes and obituary contributed by Dr. Anthony Troha: The following death notice is for Frederick Backus Jackson, the previously unrecorded son of Jarvis Jackson-18613 and Gertrude R. Lott-18614, which also mentions another relative:

The Newtown Register, Thursday, February 28, 1907, Page 5, Column 5: “FREDERICK BACKUS JACKSON.

Frederick Backus Jackson, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Jackson, of Jamaica, died at his home in that village last Sunday [i.e. Sunday, February 24, 1907], in the twentieth year of his age. Mr. Jackson was a nephew of Mrs. Frederick D. Backus of Whitepot [“Whitepot”, an anglicized version of the Dutch “Whiteput”, meaning “hollow creek”, was the name of a neighborhood that included the northernmost parts of modern Kew Gardens, Queens, NY] and was well known in that locality and elsewhere. He had many friends by all of whom he will be greatly missed. Much sympathy is felt by every one [sic: everyone] for his bereaved parents. The funeral services, which were largely attended, were held yesterday afternoon at his late home 420 Hillside avenue.”

Note that this is the same address as cited in his mother, Gertrude R. Jackson’s death notice, thus confirming his identity. It also cites an aunt, Mrs. Frederick D. Backus, who further research identifies as Alice Jackson Backus [daughter of Henry Jackson and Sarah Ann Mott.]
