INDIANA — Fred Monroe Conklin

Funeral services for Fred Monroe Conklin, 95, of Decatur will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Cambridge City, Ind., the Rev. Charles Boling officiating, where Waskom Funeral Home (705-478-4221) is in charge of arrangements. Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Conklin died Sunday, May 16, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1915, in Cambridge City to John Tappan and Laura Abby Rush Conklin. He was a retired president of Diversified Enterprises Company in Decatur. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur, Masonic Lodge No. 49 in Hagerstown, Ind., and Scottish-Rite of Free Masonry and Cahaba Temple of Huntsville. He was a former operations manager for Conagra in Decatur and a national general manager of the Feed Division in Montreal, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marguerite Conklin; and a sister, Mary Kepler. Survivors include his wife, Nadean Scott Conklin; a nephew; two nieces; two stepdaughters, Lisa Scott (Avery) Littrell and Kim Scott Silver; a sister, Coyeta Jayne Miller; and three stepgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Methodist Church Building Fund or Meals On Wheels in Decatur. Family visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Waskom Funeral Home in Cambridge City. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Funeral Home.
