Notes for FRANZ JULIUS SCHRETZMANN: Birth/baptismal entry - born at 11PM on Nov 30 1841, and Baptized at 3:30PM on Dec 1st. Godfather was Franz Anton Ruttinger, a tin maker (buchsenmacher). Witnesses were Mathaus Erbacher and Carl Schweizer (#76 for 1841, p56).

Fought in Franco-Prussian War; emigrated 1872-5; married in Philadelphia in 1875 - per his descendant, "PA Chas."

According to Germans To America, Julius arrived in New York on Aug 12 1872 aboard the Batavia which had sailed from Liverpool and Queenstown. The entry indicates that Julius, age 30, was a mechanic.
