↑ Hi Eric; Yes, there are some records in that bible and I will have it in the mail for you tomorrow. I'm sure you will be pleased. I knew the descendant, Frank and Lydia when I was a child. They lived in the little house directly across from the museum and Frank was the janitor of the grade school. He had sleeping sickness and would sit in the teachers chair after walking up the street to the school, to rest and would fall asleep. We kids playing on the swings etc. would tap on the window to waken him and he would empty the waste baskets- then sit again and we would tap on the windows again and finally he would get the floor swept and eventually we would see him walk home again. Did you buy a town history? I'm thinking you did. If so on pages 242, 358-9, 548, 572 & 687 there are references to Solomon Crane. It seems that the Crane boys liked the Mills girls as there seem to be at least 3 of them that married into that family. Our vital records do show that in 1795 - Solomon (no middle initial or name) was born to Joseph and Deliverance.-
Some of those page numbers are for other parts of the family for example 358-9 is a Solomon born to Wm. & Hannah who had twin boys, Solomon and Simon b. 3-26-1793. That Solomon m. Elizabeth Mills of Claremont. She d. 5-22-1846 then he remarried Mrs. Lucy Proctor on 2-11-1847 he d. 9-1-1858.--- Glad to help again and please tell Dalton I say Hi to him. He was a lot of fun to meet. I wish he were part of this community as his enthusiasim might rub off onto some of our young people. Look for mail in a few days. Hi Gwen,
My son Dalton and I met you this summer on Memorial day when we came to Washington to do some family research and visit the Historical Society. Thank you again for showing us around.
I read somewhere on line that the Crane Family Bible is in possession of the Historical Society. I was wondering how I could get either a copy or a transcript of the genealogical contents of that Bible. I am trying to find evidence that Solomon Vose Crane was the son of Joseph Crane and Deliverance Mills. The state of NH has no birth record for Solomon, so I am wondering if this Bible might provide any information. Thank you for your help.
