Mt. Vernon Register News, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Tuesday, September 8, 1931 Frank Hanna Died at Fairfield Sunday
East St. Louis, Ill., Frank Hanna, East St. Louis attorney, died yesterday morning at Fairfield, Ill., his boyhood home. He was 72 years old. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m. in Fairfield. The East St. Louis Bar Association will send a delegation to the funeral. Mr. Hanna was the son of Robert Hanna, a Fairfield attorney and former Congressman. He studied law in his father's office and was elected State's Attorney of Wayne County Ill., about forty years ago. He volunteered for service in the Spanish-American War and was accidentally injured while in camp awaiting orders to go to Cuba. On his discharge from the army he established himself in East St. Louis. Mr. Hanna practiced law in East St. Louis continuously since 1899, was associated with the Aurora, Ill. law office of John L. Flannigan. He served as City Comptroller of East St. Louis, under the administration of the late Judge Silas Cook as mayor of the city. Mr. Hanna resided during his latter years in the Wies Hotel, 101 Missouri Avenue, East St. Louis. He never married. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Brown, Flora, Ill.; Miss Clara Hanna, Fairfield, and a brother, T. P. Hanna, Fairfield. He was a member of the Masonic order and of the Spanish-American War veterans. |
