According to Janice Kelley Roddick, Granddaughter of Fanny, Joe Blaine's sister Augusta left some money to him. In 1904 Fanny used the money to take her two youngest children, Orrell and Janeth to National City, CA where Fanny's sister lived. Fanny also bought the home on National Avenue and ran it as a boarding house. She was also a midwife. Joe Blaine followed in 1910 with the older children. Fanny didn't want anymore children. She was 40 years old when the youngest child, Janeth was born.

  1. The Star News National City, CA. Mrs. Fannie Blaine. (Mrs Fannie Blaine, 94 who had lived in National City 50 years and whose home there is one of the oldest in the county, died Thursday night in San Bernadino. She had been living there with a daughter, Mrs. O.D. Kelley, formerly of National City.

    Mrs. Blaine was the widow of Joseph Blaine. There home at 1107 National Ave. National City still stands as a landmark. Mrs. Blaine came to California in 1904 to join her brother and sisters. They were the late Mrs. Ida Jennings of San Diego, the late Frank Orrell of National City and Mrs. Al Addis who still resides in National City.

    Mrs. Blaine was a member of the Methodist church and the Pythian Sisters. She is survived by two sons and two other daughters, James Blaine of Jamul, Lowell Blaine and Mrs. George Bean of Weaverville, Calif., and Mrs. Janeth Blaine Gibbs of Oswego, Ore.

    Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, two sisters, including Mrs. Addis, and several nieces and nephews in San Diego and National City.

    Private graveside services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Greenwood Cemetery with Mark B. Shaw Co., San Bernadino mortuary directing.).

    Fanny was late to her own funeral as her sons led the hearse to the wrong cemetery.
