Email from Barbara Bernhart received 2 October 2004: Uncle Ezra passed away this morning after a long painful month. His faith was strong and unwavering. We are all confident that he is now celebrating with Aunt Mary, Betty Jo (his daughter).Grandmother and Granddaddy and all his siblings sibling who have preceded him. We will all miss him but feel so very blessed to have had him with us for 96 and a half years. Arrangements have been made at Fredricks Funeral Home on Fredricks Road in Opelika, Alabama, USA. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 3, 2004 from five o'clock to eight o'clock PM. Funeral services will be at the Pepperell Baptist Church at 1:00 PM. A luncheon will be held at the church at 11:00 AM for family. Please continue to keep the family, Ezra Earl & Jackie, Vivian, James & Lynn and Agnes in your prayers. Obituary fron the Opelika-Auburn News (newspaper): Funeral services for Ezra L. Griffin, 96, of Opelika, will be 1 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2004, at Pepperell Baptist Church, with Reverend Bill Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Tallassee, Alabama, USA. Mr. Griffin will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Visitation will be today, from 5-8 p.m., at Fredericks Funeral Home.Mr. Griffin, who was born February 8, 1908, died October 2, 2004, at his home.Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Griffin of Opelika; sons, Ezra E. (Jacquelin) Griffin of Loganville, GA, James P. (Lynn) Griffin of Marietta, GA; daughter, Vivian Griffin of Birmingham; grandchildren, Charlie, Jo Ann, Scott, Jamie-Lynn and many great grandchildren. Fredericks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
