Ezekiel Sample, of South Huntingdon township, died March 31, 1829, in the 80th year of his age. He lived in the township forty-two years, and was a justice of the peace for twenty-seven years.

    Philad’a, Thursday Aug’t 13, 1777.
    Present:
    His Excell’y Tho’s Wharton, jun’r, Esq’r, President, Hon’ble George Bryan, Esq’r, Vice President.
    John Evans, Jonathan Hoge, John Proctor, and Joseph Hart – Esq’rs.
    Whereas, In the course of the examination of the aforesaid Will’m McCoy & John Reynolds, it appears that Sergeant And’w Byer, in Capt. Nichols’ Company; Ezekiel Sample, in Capt. Steele’s Company’ ___Davis, in Capt. Butler’s Company; Ensign ___Wilson, of Erwin’s Comp’y, Will’m Coyle, or Kyle, John Hogg, Ensign, & John Magee, Ensign, have been active in the said Riot; therefore the Council issued a Writ, directed to the Sheriff of the County of Philadelphia, authorizing him to apprehend the said Andrew Byer, Ezekiel Sample, ___Davis, ___Wilson, ___Coyle, or Kyle, John Hogg, & John Magee, & bring them, or any of them, before this Council, to answer the complaints aforesaid.
    And’w Byers, John Hogg, & Ezekiel Semple, were broght before the Council & examined. Whereupon, John Hogg & Ezekiel Semple were discharged, the evidence against them being insufficient to justify the detaining them. And’w Byers appearing to have been concerned in the above mentioned riot [ie. in the county of York], was ordered to give security for his appearance at the next Court of Quarter Session for the aforesaid County of York, to answer the said charge himself, in the Sum of Fifty pounds, & one sufficient surety in the like Sum.
