↑ Anderson cites no further record of John Peirce's daughter Exercise after his 1661 will. The marriage record in the published Lynn vital records calls Nehemiah's wife "Experience Pearce." Various secondary sources, such as the Jewett genealogy and Early Settlers of Rowley state that the wife of Nehemiah Jewett was Exercise, daughter of John Pierce. Note that the Jewett genealogy calls her daughter of John and Rebecca (Wheeler) Pierce which is unlikely since that couple married in 1654 and Nehemiah Jewett married in 1668. For lack of a better solution, she was probably daughter of John Peirce and his second wife, Mary, but that means she was born before 1647 when Mary (according to TGMB) died or possibly Mary died later; it's not clear where Anderson got the 1647 date for her death. There appears to be no other woman by the name of Exercise (or Experience) Pierce/Peirce, etc. in New England this early.
