Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Jesse Vernon Naill and Ruby Fuller Naill as well as sister, Dorothy Ellen Stephens. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Orange, CA on Sunday, September 15th at 12:00 noon with a reception to follow.
Evelyn married John Richard Forbes in 1950. They were married for 39 years until Richard's passing in 1989. Evelyn and Richard raised four children and were active in the First Methodist Church in Fresno, California. They were very involved with community events and in particular, the International Christian Youth Exchange Program where they became "mom and dad" to numerous students from around the world.
Evelyn excelled in educational pursuits, graduating from the University of the Pacific and later earning a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from California State University Fresno. Evelyn Forbes was an Elementary School Teacher and Resource Specialist with the Fresno Unified School District for over 40 years. Her smile and sense of humor were motivating to her students who found learning the inescapable result of "fun" with Mrs. Forbes.
Evelyn fell in love again. She married among friends and family at the little red church in Yosemite National Park in 1995. Prominent in their lives is the service and camaraderie of the First Presbyterian Church in Orange, CA and in particular their dear friends in the Clippers and Seafarers groups.
Evelyn Forbes-Naill is survived by husband, children, grandchildren, and grandchildren. Evelyn will also be missed by her "adopted" exchange student families from all over the world.
To Evelyn's friends and family wherever they may be, she reminds us of the importance of supporting one another, having a positive outlook and daring to prepare ourselves for a future that is beyond our imagination.
