Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 15, 2000 Eula Pearl Petree CANADIAN - Eula Pearl Simmons Petree, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Petree was born in Emory. She was raised in Miami and graduated from Miami High School. She attended West Texas Normal College and earned a teaching certificate from Texas Tech University. She moved to Hemphill County in 1929 and to Amarillo in 1992. She taught at Mendota School and later worked at The Toggery and The Fair clothing stores. Mrs. Petree was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canadian and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club. She married Van William Petree in 1929 at Arnett, Okla. He died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Annette Lippold of Canyon and Marva Lee Hohertz of Spearman; a brother, R.L. "Bill" Simmons of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the building fund of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1343, Canadian, TX 79014; Alzheimer's Association, Panhandle Chapter, 2200 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106.
