Eugenia K. Riddell, 95, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 10:02 a.m. on Sunday, March 21 at Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon.
She was born on March 5, 1915 in Estill County, Kentucky, the daughter of Fred and Lena Berryman Johnson. She married Walter Riddell on April 12, 1934 in Irvine, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1975.
Mrs. Riddell was a Foster Grandparent for Jennings County Schools for 20 years; she had previously worked for several years as a cook for Jennings County Schools. She attended school in Estill County, Kentucky. She attended the Christ Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. Her hobbies included watching TV, working crossword puzzles and working with children.
Survivors include, one son, Delbert (Jessica) Riddell of Westport, Indiana; one daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Stonefield, Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Louis (Doris) Johnson and Donald (Betty) Johnson, both of North Vernon, Indiana; three sisters, Kathleen (Lewis) Holley of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dortha (Nelson) Dilk of Versailles, Indiana and Juanita Singleton of Vernon, Indiana; five grandchildren, Robert Riddell of Nashville, Tennessee, Daniel Riddell of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joseph Riddell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sharon Salcedo of San Antonio, Texas and Timothy Stonefield of Louisville, Kentucky; three great-grandchildren, Greg Oakley of Greenwood, Indiana, Brooke and Andrew Harper of San Antonio, Texas and one great-great-grandson, Colin Oakley of Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Palmer, Carrel and Stanford Johnson; two sisters, Arvida Armstrong and Josephine Smith.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 25 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 24 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery.
