2013 - Obituary, Niagara Gazette: LIVONIA — Ethyle R. Chandler, of Lewiston, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, after a short illness, at the age of 90. Ethyle was born in Toronto, Ontario on September 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Herbert and Mabel Nickerson. In 1944 she was married to her husband, Donald Chandler, who predeceased her in 1993. Ethyle was a teacher, having taught at the Red Brick School in Lewiston. It was one of the first schools in Lewiston. She then opened and operated the Whitehouse Nursery School in Lewiston for many years prior to her retirement. She was an active lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston. She was a member of the Lewiston Historical Society and the Study Club. She volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels and the Fairchild Nursing Home, and she volunteered at Art Park basically since its beginning. Ethyle watched and participated as Lewiston grew over the years. She had a long and deep connection to the Lewiston Community that she loved so much. Ethyle is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Howard) Jacobs of Dansville, NY; sons, Philip (Londa) Chandler of TX and Jeff Chandler of NE; grandchildren, Kim Jacobs of CA, Chris Jacobs of VA, Chris (Marie) Chandler, Donovan Chandler and Dalton Chandler, all of TX, Denver (Annie) Chandler of GA, Jancie Chandler of OH, Carey (Dean) Watson of NV, Graham (Nikki) Chandler of CA; 10 great-grandchildren and one niece. She also leaves behind many friends and former students in the Lewiston area. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 21 at the Lewiston First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewiston First Presbyterian Church, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, NY 14092.
