Mrs. Ethel Rich Haley, 83, of 4479 Mebane Rogers Road, died at her residence on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 2:38 a.m. after several years of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Benners Holt Haley and the daughter of Wayne E. Rich and Ava Graves Rich, both deceased. She was a retired Deputy Register of Deeds of Alamance County and a member of Mebane United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ms. Judy K. Merritt of the home; a sister, Mrs. Faye R. Andrews and her husband Bill of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; two grandchildren, Hope Baptiste and Dayne Harrison; seven great-grandchildren, Haley Harrison, Benners Harrison, Ryan Baptiste, Cydney Baptiste, Alex Baptiste, Nathaniel Harrison, and Chase Baptiste; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Rich.

The funeral will be conducted at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Ken Hall. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham on Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:30. At other times they will be at the residence of her granddaughter, Mrs.. Dayne Harrison, 4423 Mebane Rogers Road, Mebane.
