    (III) William (2), second son of William (1) and Catherine (Goodge) Cottom…He married (second) April 2, 1874, Nancy Cochran, born February 14, 1836, in Lower Tyrone township, Fayette county, daughter of Isaac and Rosanna (Sample) Cochran, who tradition says, were the handsomest couple that ever entered Old Tyrone Church. He was born near Chambersburgh, Pennsylvania 16 Jan 1792; she in Westmoreland county, January 16, 1792; she in Westmoreland county January 16, 1792, daughter of Ezekiel and Elizabeth (McBride) Sample, of Northern Ireland. Isaac was a son of Samuel and Esther (Johns) Chochran; he was born in the north of Ireland, a farmer, died in Lower Tyrone township. Samuel was a son of John Cochran, born in Ireland. Elizabeth Johns died in 1836, daughter of Daniel Johns born in Wales, who left a fortune in Wales, came to this country with the British army during the war of the revolution, deserted, and is supposed to have been killed. She was the mother of all Isaac Cochran’s children, although he married a second wife, Sarah Nichol, who died in 1875. Children of Isaac and Rosanna (Sample) Cochran:

    2. Sample, married Caroline Strickler and lived in New Haven, Pennsylvania.
    3. Isaac (2), married Lydia Muriel.
    4. James, (see Cochran).
    5. Elizabeth, now residing in Dawson, unmarried.
    6. Hester, died unmarried.
    7. Rosanna, died unmarried.
    8. John M., married Hannah Margaret Strickler, and lived in Dawson.
