Children of Jonathan Hammond and Katherine Davis: Esther, bap. 25 Mar 1750, m. --- Waters.
[Note: see comments below. The baptism date appears to be an error. More research is needed.]

  2. Bowen cited above, gives this couple a daughter Esther "bap. Mar. 25, 1750", mentioning for some reason "another Esther Hammond whose child was b. Woodstock Oct. 28, 1753", which doesn't seem relevant. However, the date 25 Mar 1750 is the same date that brother Jonathan is baptized, and as can be seen in the original and also a copy, that there is no mention of any Esther being baptized. An Esther Waters is mentioned in her father's 1759 probate (one mention looks more like "Esther Walton" but two others clearly say Waters in agreement with Bowen indication she married --- Waters). The probate does not appear to religiously follow birth order, but Esther appears to be named before Mary. However, this may be because she is married and others aren't. No baptism is found in the church record. All children after Abel have recorded baptims, except David who died as an infant. Bowen says the parents married in 1731 even though the first child shown is born very late in 1733. One has to suspect that perhaps this Esther was born soon after the marriage and is the one who had a child in 1753??
