From the Rochester Sentinel obituaries; Thursday, March 21, 1974: Mrs. Esta Olive DAY, 88, R.R. 1, Akron, died Wednesday at 10:35 p.m. at Woodlawn hospital. She had been ill the past year. Mrs. Day was born Feb. 12, 1886 in Kosciusko county to John and Louise HART ENGLE. She was married Sept. 3, 1904 at Akron to Ralph DAY, who died in 1952. A lifetime resident of the area, she was a member of the Akron Church of God and the Royal Neighbors club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Phyllis) HIPP DYER, and Miss Vev Ville DAY, at home; two sons, Bower "Sie" DAY, Macy, and John DAY, Akron; twenty grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and one brother, John ENGLE, Warsaw. A daughter, a son, five sisters and a brother preceded in death. Last rites will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sheetz funeral home in Akron with the Rev. J. D. THOMASON officiating. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday. |
