HAZEL GREEN, Wis. - Ervin William Rupnow, 87, of Hazel Green, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at home in Jamestown Township, Hazel Green. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Dakota, Ill. The Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cuba City, is in charge of arrangements. He was born on Aug. 7, 1921, in Monroe, Wis., son of Emil and Mary (Meythaler) Rupnow. Ervin worked as a cheese maker in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin for many years and was employed as a Mayflower driver. He also owned an antique and used furniture business on Central Avenue in Dubuque. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Nancy (Joel) Wells, of Davis, Ill., and Barb (Gerald) Clutter, of Rockford, Ill.; two sons, Duane (Dee) Rupnow, of Emmett, Idaho, and Dennis (special friend, Judy McConnell) Rupnow, of East Dubuque, Ill.; a sister, Ramona Rupnow, of Waukegan, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Betty Rupnow, of Lena, Ill.; his former wife, Lois L. Pitz, of Dubuque; and Margaret's special sons, Jim (Lisa) Petsche, of Monona, Iowa, and Steve (Judy) Petsche, of Marquette, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mary (Meythaler) Rupnow; and three brothers, Virgil, Elwyn and Nathan (Ole).
