    [The author notes that a genealogist named Asa W. Allen placed Ephraim as son of Ephraim Allen of Roxbury in 1650, but this author couldn't find any confirmation, and believes Ephraim was Samuel's son based on various circumstantial reasons, including naming his eldest son Samuel.]
