Burnam Seaver, a resident of Burlington VT, enlisted as a Private in the Union Army on 23 August 1862, and enlisted in Company C, 12th Cavalry Regiment of Vermont on 4 October 1862. He mustered out of his unit on 14 July 1863 in Brattleboro VT ["Military Records of Individual Civil War Soldiers," Historical Data Systems, Provo UT, accessed at "American Civil War Soldiers" database on www.ancestry.com].

In the 1850 US census, the Burnham E. Sever family resided in Burlington in Chittenden County, Vermont. The household included Burnham E. (age 30, carpenter and joiner, $1100 in real property, born VT), Celeste (age 28, born VT), Osman H. (age 6, born VT) and Susan (age 27, born VT) [FHL Microfilm 0,444,922, page 281, dwelling #186, family #245].

In the 1860 US census, the Burnham Seaver family resided in Burlington, Chittenden County, VT. The household included Burnham (age 40, laborer, $1,200 in real property, $200 in personal property, born VT), Celestia (age 38, born VT), Osmond (age 16, born VT) and Emma (age 13, born VT).
