Biography
Emma C Pitman was born Nov 1859 in Cambridge City, Wayne, Indiana and died 8 Jul 1936 in New Castle, Henry, Indiana. She was one of eleven children and the oldest known daughter of Lee and Martha (Develin) Pitman. She never married and lived most of her life with her parents in Cambridge City, Indiana. Following the death of her parents in the 1920s, Emma moved in with her widowed younger sister, Mrs. Della (Pitman) Williams, who was living with her daughter's family in New Castle, Henry, Indiana. Emma died 8 Jul 1936 in Henry county.

16 Jul 1936, p 5 - MISS EMMA PITMAN - Miss Emma Pitman, 76 years old, died at the New Castle Clinic late last Wednesday night. She was born in Cambridge City and lived here until about ten years ago, when she went to New Castle to make her home with a sister Mrs. Della Williams. Death resulted from a broken hip suffered six weeks ago while visiting in Connersville at the home of another sister. She was a member of the local Rebekah lodge. Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Willard Petro of this city; Mrs. Della Williams of New Castle; Mrs. Alma Gevin (sic) of Connersville, ad Mrs. Jennie Laux of Indianapolis, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home of her sister Mrs. Willard Petro, Rev. F.C. McCormick in charge. ----- (cos1776 Note: Alma's married surnname was Guerin)
