John Sedgwick and Ensign Thomas Swan, as follows: 1. William W. Knight (1833-1911) m. 1861 Caroline Swan Sedgwick (1839-1917). 2. Joseph Knight (1788-1861) m. Ruby Hyde (1795-1849); Charles F. Sedgwick (1795-1882) m. 1821 Betsy Swan (1807-94). 3. Ashur Knight m. 1786 Martha Cordelia Clark (1762-1849); John Andrews Sedgwick (1764-1820) m. Nancy Buel; Ephraim Hyde m. 1781 Sarah Lamphear (b. 1757); Cyrus Swan (1768-1835) m. 1803 Rachel Gould (1783-1870). 4. John Sedgwick m. Abigail Andrews (1745-1811); Thomas Swan m. 1762 Amy (Mary) Denison (b. 1742). Ashur Knight (1761-1825) served as private in Capt. John Carpenter's company of guards, 1779. He was born in Norwich; died in Stafford, Conn. [p.91] Ephraim Hyde served as private under Capt. Nathan Heath and Maj. Gen. Gates, 1778-79. He was born in Newton; died, 1812, in Monson, Mass. Also No. 125900. John Sedgwick (1742-1820) served as captain in Col. Benjamin Hinman's regiment, major under Colonels Burrell and Swift and as lieutenant-colonel of Connecticut militia. He was born in West Hartford; died in Cornwall; Conn. Thomas Swan (1742-1830) served as ensign in Captain Wheeler's company, 8th regiment, Connecticut militia. He was born in Stonington, Conn.

Knight, was born May 21, 1870, at Sharon, Conn. She married June 14, 1899, John Edmond Barss, born at Wolfville, Nova Scotia, son of Dr. Thomas Andew Strange deWolf Barss and Elisabeth Esther Mary Ann (Crawley) Barss. Mr. Barss was for 26 years teacher of Latin at the Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, Conn., was a teacher for a time at Roxbury (Mass.) Latin School and was from 1919 to November 21, 1944, the date of his death, a teacher at the Loomis School, Windsor, Conn., where he died. Mrs. Barss died December 16, 1931, at Hartford, Conn.
