Altho Aunt Jennie said she had her children all christened in the Catholic Church because her relatives had feared that the children would be lost if she didn't do so. But not one of her children ever adherred [sic] to the Catholic faith. They are all Protestants. Becoming Protestants through conversion when they were still young people. She said she herself had become converted through reading the New Testament of her Bible after asking God to show her the way. After the death of Diacon in 1865, she moved with her family to Kossuth County, Iowa where she married and divorced Joseph Monahan in 1870. She had a homestead 12 miles from Algona, Iowa, which she later traded for land in Kansas: Robert Leishman papers in possession of Robert L. Quinnett.

After marrying Foley in Michigan, they moved to Coffey County, KS, where they lived on a farm near Lebo, KS. They separated and she went to Canada where she died: Robert Leishman papers in possession of Robert L. Quinnett.
